How To Raise Your Standards: Make (Way) More Sales With One Simple Shift.

Nothing changes your business like raising your standards. Bigger goals, strategy, consistent execution and higher quality clients—these are all standards that you can set. Too often we settle for a level of performance that is far below what we ought to demand. Life is far too short for this! Your time is too important!

Demand the most of yourself and others. Commit to raising the bar across every area of your business—especially outreach.

When your ability to do high-quality outreach becomes habituated, you have such an enormous advantage over the rest of the marketplace it’s hard to put into words. You are doing the thing that most businesses simply won’t do.

This approach compounds when you then apply it across the board. Not only do you promise yourself you’ll reach a minimum level of activity, but you also commit to raising the quality of your craft and delivery.

So not only are you approaching more clients, you’re approaching better clients in a better way. You’re committed to mastering the two most important activities in your business: sales and marketing.

It sounds incredibly simple but it’s the best gift you can give yourself. Here’s how you can put it into action:

  1. Decide on a minimum number of outreach activities you want to do each week or (preferably) each day. This is the fastest way to habituate a new standard. What is a good minimum standard to set? What would that routine look like?

  2. Set a regular period (e.g. once a month) to intentionally improve your technique or outreach processes based on feedback from the market. What can you improve? How can you be more valuable to your prospects?

  3. Review your ideal client profile each quarter to determine what kind of client you want to work with and why. What qualities do you want? What behaviors or traits are not a fit? How can you detect them earlier in the sales process?

Implement even one of these and you will experience rapid, exponential progress. Competition is enormous in terms of noise, but almost non-existent in terms of consistency and quality. If you stick to delivering an excellent experience of a long, continued period, results will follow.

Raise your standards, you’ll be extremely glad you did.
