The True Cost Of Tiny Compromises.

I was recently listening to a lecture series by the late Jim Rohn, one of the pillars of the personal development industry who has mentored juggernauts like Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, Brian Tracy, and Mark Hughes.

To the modern reader—especially at first glance—he appears to be a motivational speaker from a forgotten age. But the longer you listen, the more you realize he is so much more than just a speaker—he’s a true philosopher of life.

One of his keystone concepts is DISCIPLINE. He talks about it more than perhaps any other concept. And when he speaks about it, he treats it more seriously than any other concept.

But rather just doing what needs doing, which is honorable in itself, Jim encourages us to look beyond what’s expected by others and look inward to our own standards.

Are we doing the best we can? Are we aiming as high as we can? Are we working as much as we can?

Anything less than our very best, at all times, in any area of life is what’s known as NEGLECT.

It begins small, like a small cut. But before long, the cuts add up and progresses to an infection, then full blown disease. The objective of life is to avoid this STACK OF NEGLECT that accrues day after day. The goal in six years is to be celebrating your wins, not looking back at what could have been and drowning in regret.

Even the SLIGHTEST LACK of doing your best starts to erode and damager your psyche, in every single area of your life. You might think to yourself: “It’s okay to coast this week, it will only affect my sales” but you’d be wrong!

Every compromise of this sort affects your SELF WORTH, SELF CONFIDENCE, SELF-VALUE, and SELF-RESPECT.

You can start small by saying a phrase like: “I SHOULD, I COULD, AND I WILL!” and then following through! Say to yourself: “NO LONGER will I let neglect STACK UP on me!”

Reverse the flow of neglect by pouring your very best into every activity you undertake and every situation you encounter. Leave nothing on the table. Hold nothing back.

Your energy is meant circulate back into the world. To hold onto it, or to invest it in things that don’t serve you, or to leave things on the table, is to not fulfill your true potential. There is a part of you, deep down, that is fully aware of your potential and the difference between where you are and where you could be if you fully applied yourself to a particular situation.

Deep down, you know you could be, would be, and SHOULD BE doing better. Not from an outside standard, but from your own internal nature. We are called to do our best. We are meant for expansion. We are HARD-WIRED to fulfill our potential.

One of the greatest feelings in the world is when your head hits the pillow after a long, fulfilling day of work. There’s a deep and profound sense of satisfaction that lets rest become TRULY restful. You don’t have to worry about regrets or doubts.

You don’t have to wonder if you could have or should have done something differently or better. You will be someone who knows, obviously, that you could be more effective and learn more things, but you’ve invested your time wisely every single day.

That is the GOLDEN PATH of productivity and prosperity.

Do your best, every single day, and you will never have to worry about what could have been or what should have been. You will know that you focused all of your energy on the only place that matters—this current moment.

Do the work you need to do, as excellently as you can do it.
